The Shaar Hagai Matching Challenge

Myrna Shiboleth, the world's expert on Canaan Dogs, is in need of our assistance. You can read the story of her struggle to save Shaar Hagai Kennel and the probable need to relocate at her GoFundMe site: www.gofundme.com/kqk2ta8s
Myrna has worked tirelessly to preserve and promote Canaan Dogs. She has spent considerable time and resources bringing in free-living Canaan Dogs from the desert in order to add new bloodlines for the breed's gene pool.  This work has been invaluable to every one of us who owns and loves a Canaan Dog..
The ICDCA has donated $1,000 to Myrna’s cause, and has approved matching ICDCA member donations up to an additional $1,000.   Please visit
www.gofundme.com/kqk2ta8s and donate to Myrna’s cause.  For member donations made in 2016, please email a copy of your donation receipt to Treasurer, Cheryl Shank, at cherylss03@hotmail.com so that the ICDCA can send a matching donation to Myrna. Let's help Myrna continue to save this breed that we love so well!

Is a Canaan Dog the Right Dog for you?
Why Join the ICDCA?

The Israel Canaan Dog is an ancient breed whose origins have been lost in the sands of time. Drawings and carvings dating from pre-Biblical times depict dogs very similar in type to the "modern" Canaan.

The breed belongs to one of the oldest families of dogs, the Spitz family, which includes the Basenji, the Australian Dingo and the Siberian Husky and whose members exist all over the world. Although dogs of similar type appear throughout the Middle East, the specific type of the Canaan Dog is found primarily in Israel.

Basically a wild dog which has evolved through natural selection, only the strongest, most fit and most intelligent specimens survived the demanding conditions of the harsh Israeli environment.
